I googled GI Doctors and I was impressed with the website and all the services the business offered. Unfortunately the customer service I received when I called and spoke to someone was not impressive. The person was rather rude and condescending. She laughed at me when I told her I was uncomfortable providing the full social security number, I could however provide her with the insurance information and other information such as last four of social. She put me on hold came back and said that I would have to provide full social number at the office before the doctors could see us. I told her that she had no right to laugh at someone who was not comfortable at providing their full social security number and that she didn't know the circumstances of why a person would choose to shield sensitive information. I told her I would find another office that would be more sensitive to the situation and didn't find it a laughing matter, also if someone chooses not to provide their full social security that's their right as long as they prove their identity by other means. Unfortunately in my opinion doctors offices one of the most vulnerable place for personal information being disclosed, when we are asked for our social security number we don't know what type of person we are sharing that with, and if they will share it outside the office, this might not be the case in this office because I didn't have the pleasure of getting an appointment there but I would have appreciated it if the lady would have been more professional and sensitive to my ask.
